You International Students at U.S. Universities
Degree planning and college success coaching for admitted and currently enrolled international students navigating the U.S. university system.
Studying in the United States should not feel like a guessing game.
After months—or years—of preparing applications and completing A Levels, the International Baccalaureate, AP courses, or previous university study, many families assume the difficult part is over. In reality, a new set of decisions is beginning.
Will previous coursework count?
Which classes should come first?
Is the student meeting major and graduation requirements?
Could one registration decision delay graduation?
Degree requirements, prerequisite chains, registration systems, campus policies, and academic expectations can feel unfamiliar. A clear plan helps students and families understand where they stand and what comes next.
Two Ways I Support International Students
Degree Plan & Academic Roadmap
We review the student’s university, major, completed coursework, incoming credit, prerequisites, and remaining requirements. The student receives a semester-by-semester roadmap and a clear list of questions to verify with the university.
College Success Coaching
Students receive ongoing help adapting to the weekly expectations of a U.S. university: planning the work, tracking deadlines, communicating with instructors, using office hours and campus resources, preparing for registration, and following through.
What We Can Work Through
✓ How A-Level, IB, AP, transfer, or prior university credit may apply
✓ General education, major, prerequisite, and graduation requirements
✓ Semester-by-semester academic planning
✓ Registration preparation and advising questions
✓ Major exploration or changes while minimizing unnecessary delays
✓ U.S. classroom expectations, office hours, tutoring, and campus resources
✓ Organization, accountability, and executive function systems
More Time to Understand the System
University advisors provide essential guidance, but appointments may be short or difficult to schedule during busy registration periods. International students and parents may also need more time to understand unfamiliar terminology, compare options, and connect one decision to the larger degree plan.
My role is to help the student prepare, ask better questions, and use university advising more effectively. Together, we turn a complicated system into a plan the student can understand and follow.
Move Forward With Greater Confidence
Schedule a free consultation to talk through the student’s university, major, previous coursework, and current concerns.
Visa, immigration, employment authorization, and legal questions should continue to be handled by the university’s International Student Office or a qualified immigration professional.
